Bounce is our youth wellbeing project for 8-14 year olds.
We developed Bounce just for you! We saw the success of our Mindkit project for older ages, and heard your requests for something equally good for younger ages. So… we came up with Bounce!
Bounce offers free, interactive workshops and assemblies in local schools and other youth organisations, which are designed to help build resilience and support wellbeing.
We hope you enjoyed it! We’re so glad you’re here to find out more ways you can practice what you learned.
Your Bounce booklet has reminders of all the tips you’ll have picked up in your workshop, but if you found them so helpful that you’re dying to learning more, here are some super exciting things for you to try out!
Close your eyes and focus on your breathing.
Count 1 on the in breath, 2 on the out breath… right the way up to 10.
When you reach 10… start again from 1.
Don’t worry if you get distracted! Simply pick up where you got lost, or go back to 1.
Do this 10 times over, or for as long as you feel comfortable, and then note how you’re feeling afterwards.
Do you feel calmer?
Focussing on what you can see, hear, taste, feel, or smell can help you to concentrate on the present moment, rather than getting distracted by dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
Try getting a chocolate button or a raisin, and placing it on your tongue.
Close your eyes.
What does it feel like on your tongue?
What does it taste like? Is it how you expected?
Notice how it melts in your mouth.
Try the same thing by focusing on a particular sounds, or even the colours in the room.
Do you notice anything you haven’t been aware of before?
