  • Service Overview

RB Mind Therapies offers a range of therapies which aim to provide the community of Richmond with support while they are in emotional need and also a place where they can explore their psychological difficulties.

    One to One Therapy:

We offer one to one counselling/psychotherapy which is open ended. This means that clients can have as many sessions as they need to work through their difficulties with a professional therapist. Everything said in the sessions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

    Coping with Life Courses:

We also offer Coping With Life courses which are psycho-educational groups. This means that they are about providing information and helping you to develop skills to manage your symptoms. The courses are not therapy groups; however this does not mean they are not therapeutic. The focus is on helping you to increase your understanding, teach you techniques and develop your skills so that you are better able to live your life to the full. All of our courses are informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Again complete confidentiality is assured. These courses run over six weeks for up to either people. Our current groups include the following, for more information about our current groups and availability please contact us on the details above

  • 1. Managing Anxiety
  • 2. Managing Depression
  • 3. Coping with Loss & Change
  • 4. Managing Stress
  • 5. Assertiveness Skills
  • 6. Managing Anger

    Where are we?

Our counselling and therapy services are offered to the Richmond and Kingston areas. We are based in the Richmond Royal Hospital, Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond. This is just a few minutes’ walk from Richmond main line and tube station. All of our one to one therapy is conducted here but some Coping with Life courses are conducted at convenient sites throughout the borough.

    Is there a charge?

RB Mind Therapies does make a charge for its psychological services and these are based on the earnings of the client. There is also a charge for an initial clinical assessment. Clinical assessment fees are as follows:

For those who are unwaged or earning below £25,000 per annum:   £10.00

For those earning between £25,001 and above per annum:   £35.00

Fees for ongoing counselling/therapy will be negotiated during the clinical assessment based on individual circumstance.

    Cancellations

The RB Mind Therapies Service operates a cancellation fee scheme. If you cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours notification, you will be charged 50% of the fee you will be paying for your one to one therapy or coping with life course. If however you notify the service less than 48 hours before your appointment you will be charged the full fee for that missed appointment.

    Referrals

RB Mind Therapies service accepts self referrals or referrals from GP’s or other health professionals. In cases where the an individual is already under the care of a Community Mental Health team (CMHT) a referral from the CMHT will be required before the initial assessment can take place.

    How to make an Appointment?

    Applying for therapy online

Another way you can apply for an assessment is to fill a form that can be found here.  Once submitted, the service will receive the form in a secure and confidential manner. Your form will then be processed you will be contacted in order for your initial assessment to be arranged.

    Initial assessment

There is an initial assessment session with an experienced therapist before clients are referred for therapy. This is primarily to decide whether the service is the best place for you at this time. If not, you can be referred on to more appropriate agencies or individuals where possible.

    Is there a waiting list?

RB Mind Therapies service aims to see people for an initial assessment within a maximum of three weeks after an initial referral has been made. After your assessment, there may be a delay before regular weekly sessions can start or before groups begin. Please ask about the length of our waiting list when you attend your initial assessment.

To ensure that clients are not waiting for more than four weeks for their individual therapy sessions, we have decided to temporarily close the waiting list for very low cost sessions (those priced from £10.00-£25.00). We expect it to re-open in March.

The waiting list for £35.00 is still open.

    Confidentiality

Everything which is said during any of our therapies is treated with the utmost confidentiality. RB Mind Therapies has a data protection and confidentiality policy that your therapist will explain to you at your initial consultation.
