Richmond Borough Mind

Trust comes to the Richmond Royal

  • Venue: Richmond Royal's Social Centre
  • Date: Friday 29th of May
  • Time: 12:30pm to 3:30pm

Following the successful Carers Recovery Event at Springfield in April 2009, a paper was presented to the executive board of the South West London and St. George’s Trust by the Trusts lead for Carers & Director of Social Work Ruth Allen. Ruth Allen has taken the issue of improving carers’ support, involvement and recovery to the Trust Board and gained endorsement at Board level to raise the profile and consider quality standards for Carers’ support, to be pulled together into a Carers’ strategy over the next few months.

To take this forward, the Trust, Carers’ organisations and Carers themselves are holding local stock-taking meetings in each Borough. Until now, Carers have had to attend meetings and events at Trust headquarters in Tooting to voice their views. Richmond Carers have rarely been heard, this development is welcomed by Carers in Mind.

Carers in Mind aims for better partnership work in improving services for Carers and both the Primary Care Trust(PCT) and the Borough have been invited to attend this event in order to look at a co-ordinated strategy for Carers. So far, we have confirmation that Paul Mitchell the PCTs Director of Strategy and Commissioning will be attending.

This event will be taking place at the Richmond Royal's Social Centre on Friday 29th of May between 12:30pm to 3:30pm, the event will also incorporate a buffet lunch. This is seen as a unique opportunity for Mental health carers to talk directly about their own experiences of services they themselves use and access to the people responsible for them.
