Donation via eBay
Richmond Borough Mind has teamed up with eBay to raise vital funds for better mental health for vulnerable people and their Carers’ living in and around the Richmond Borough Upon Thames. Now when you sell your items on eBay why not donate a percentage of the final sale price to Richmond Borough Mind, it may even help your items sell for more if people realise that you are making a donation to charity! You can donate between 10%-100% of the final selling price - it is totally your choice!
View more information on how to donate via eBay here.
Regular Giving
One of the easiest ways to give a regular donation to RBMIND is to instruct your bank to make a regular payment on your behalf. A suggested amount is £5.00 per month, however this is entirely your choice. The payment could be monthly, quarterly or annually, the choice is yours, and your instructions are carried out by your Bank on completion of a Standing Order Form. If you would like to support RB MIND in this way, please fill in the Standing Order Form and send it to us.
*Note: If your UK employer operates a Give As You Earn Scheme you may prefer this method of donating to RB MIND. There is no upper limit on donations through the Give As You Earn Scheme, plus when you donate £1 through the Scheme it only costs you 78p, ie you save the tax of 22p. In addition, The Government has pledged to give an extra 10p for every pound given. Please speak to your Payroll Giving contact in your office for further information.
Gift Aid
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple way for a charity like RB Mind to increase the value of gifts of money we receive from UK taxpayers.
How does Gift Aid work?
When a UK taxpayer gives a gift of money to a charity like RB Mind, tax has already been paid on that money. This money therefore qualifies for Gift Aid. Because we are exempty from tax, we can claim an amount equal to the tax paid by a donor on their donation as a replayment from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
How much is Gift Aid worth ?
Gift Aid allows us to claim back 25p for every £1 you give to us, boosting the value of your donation by a quarter. All we need from you is permission to reclaim the tax you have paid to HMRC.
What do I need to do?
If you are a donor who has paid UK tax, please 'Go Even Further' and ask us for a Gift Aid Declaration form. You can down a copy of our gift aid form below.
Will Writing and Leaving a Legacy
How can I help RB Mind?
Remembering RB Mind in your will provides valuable funds which mean that RB Mind can continue its vital services, reach out to the people that need us most and develop new services for them. We are very grateful for the generosity of all our donors who help to fund our projects and help more people have happier lives. If you would like to leave a legacy to RBMIND you will need to give instructions to your Solicitor.
What should I do? Legacies (a quick guide)
A legacy is a gift of money, property or possessions left in your will. If you decide to give to a charity, the gift is currently tax-free so everything you leave will go towards the work of RB Mind.
Making or revising a will is important and we recommend you seek independent advice from of a solicitor or bank trust company.
There are 4 different types of legacies:
1) A pecuniary legacy is a gift of a fixed sum of money. You can protect this type of gift from inflation by linking it to the Retail Price Index.
2) A specific gift is a tangible item such as a house, piece of jewellery, silver teapot or car.
3) A residuary legacy is a gift of the whole or a share of whatever remains of your estate after all other gifts have been distributed and any debts paid off.
4) You can also ask people who care for you to make donations in your memory
Suggested wording for making a pecuniary legacy:
"I give the following legacy free of tax to RBMIND, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE registered Charity No 263810, the sum of_____________________________________*(amount in figures and words) for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of RB Mind for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy."
For advice or suggested wordings for index-linked pecuniary gifts, please consult a solicitor.
Suggested wording for making a specific gift:
"I give to RB MIND, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE registered Charity No 263810 my_________________________* for its general charitable purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors."
* Add a description of whatever you wish to leave.
Suggested wording for a residuary legacy:
"I give _____________________________________* of the residue of my estate absolutely to RBMIND, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE registered Charity No 263810 for its general purposes. I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or other duly authorised officer shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors."
* State all or the percentage/fraction of the residue of your estate that you wish to leave.
Adding a Codicil:
If you have already made your Will, you can still leave a gift to RB Mind. By adding a Codicil to your Will, you can leave a legacy to RBMIND whilst ensuring that the other provisions in your will remain untouched, and you won't have to pay for your Will to be completely re-written. Again you need to give instructions to your Solicitor. Here is an example of the wording of a Codicil:
"This is a Codicil of me (name) of (address) to my Will dated (date). I give (the amount) to RB Mind, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE, registered Charity No 263810, for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the honorary treasurer or other proper officer of RBMIND for the time being shall be a full and sufficient discharge for the said legacy. In all other respects I confirm my Will dated (date of original Will)."
Suggested wording for gifts in memory:
"TO MY EXECUTOR:
I wish that, instead of flowers being sent to my funeral, donations be sent to RBMIND, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE registered Charity No 263810
You may want to support a particular project or activity. Over time our activities and our sources of funding change and an open legacy gives more flexibility to make the most effective use of your legacy. If there are binding conditions attached to a legacy which we cannot satisfy, Richmond Borough Mind may not be able to benefit from the legacy.
If you are an excutor who has been given a bequest to Richmond Borough Mind you can pay the money to us by writing a cheque to Richmond Borough Mind and sending it to: RBMIND, The Social Centre, The Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE registered Charity No 263810

Gifts In Kind – Food, Clothing and Blankets
Donations of food, clothing and blankets are always welcome, particularly in the Winter. The Vineyard operates a 'Winter Clothing Scheme' distributing sleeping bags, blankets, waterproof clothing and footwear when needs arise. The Vineyard also has a shop, run by volunteers and open on Fridays between 10am and 2pm. You can donate your used clothing and bric a brac to the Vineyard Shop or to one of the Mind Shops in the locality. Either way, you can be certain that your donations will directly reach those those most in need.

Gifts In Kind – Art Materials
Our projects provide recreational facilities and a place to learn new skills or build on existing ones. Arts and crafts, photography, pottery and computer workshops are just some of the activities which take place. Any donations of paper, crayons, paints, oils, clay, film and printer cartridges are invaluable to us.
Become a Trustee or Advisor
Our Trustees are volunteers with a variety of skills and abilities. Some have been carers or users of mental health services previously and all our Trustees contribute to making RB MIND one of the key providers of mental health services in the Borough. They do this in their own free time. Hence, one of the most valuable contributions that you could make is to get involved as either a Trustee or an Advisor. Think you can rise to the challenge? If you do, then please contact our Director, Emma King.
