Job Title: Carers in Mind Support Worker
Salary: £ 22,000 (Pro-Rata)

Kew Foot Road, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 2TE.
Responsible to: Carers in Mind Project Manager
Responsible for: Providing and delivering an array of support services for families and friends who are caring for someone with a mental health problem. The Carers in Mind Support Worker will be responsible for delivering telephone advice, one to one support sessions, carers support planning, coordinating complementary therapy sessions to creating respite breaks as part of the aims and objectives of the wider Carers in Mind Project.
Length of Contract & Weekly Hours: 18 Hours Per Week till the 31st of March 2012
Richmond Borough Mind has been supporting and providing services for Mental Health Carers for over 12 years. The Carers in Mind Project initially started as a single carer led support group, which was then awarded funding for a part-time support work from the local Authority Carer’s Grant. During the last 18 months the project has grown significantly and during 2009/10 it provided nearly 600 breaks to 150 Mental Health Carers in the borough, and increased funding to incorporate a more specified Support Worker role to join its team.
The Carers in Mind Support Worker will be responsible for providing and delivering an array of support services for families and friends who are caring for someone with a mental health problem. Support interventions you would be responsible for would include telephone advice, one to one support sessions, carers support planning, coordinating complementary therapy sessions to creating respite breaks as part of the aims and objectives of the wider Carers in Mind Project.
As well as having an empathy with the core values of Mind, the successful applicant will be an exceptional listener who is able to provide timely and effective support to the client group of the project. The post holder will also possess efficient and effective coordinating skills capable of managing multiple work streams at any given time. The post holder will need to be an excellent communicator, and be comfortable with engaging and working with people from a multitude of ackgrounds especially those who are currently caring for someone with mental health distress.
