Service Overview

RB Mind's Psychotherapy and Counselling Service offers a range of therapies which aim to provide the community of Richmond with support while they are in emotional need and also a place where they can explore their psychological difficulties.

We offer one-to-one psychotherapy and counselling sessions on a longer-term basis giving clients the opportunity to work through their difficulties in depth with a professional therapist. Everything said in the sessions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. At present we offer the following styles of therapy: psychodynamic, integrative, person-centred, existential and cognitive behavioural.

We operate a sliding scale of fees dependent upon income and they start at 40 per session. These sessions are available on a weekly basis for up to 18 months’ duration.  A third of our sessions are available at a very low cost (between 10.00 and 25.00 per session) but these are restricted to up to 12 sessions’ duration and there is currently a moderate (up to three months) waiting time for these slots.

Where are we?

Our Psychotherapy and Counselling Service is offered to residents of Richmond and its surrounding buroughs. We are based in the Richmond Royal Hospital, Richmond Healthcare Hamlet, Kew Foot Road, Richmond, TW9 2TE. Referrals

RB Mind's Psychotherapy and Counselling Service accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from GPs or other health professionals. In cases where the client is already under the care of a Community Mental Health team (CMHT) a referral from the CMHT will be required before the initial assessment can take place.

How to make an Appointment

All sessions are by appointment only. In order to make an appointment please call the Psychotherapy and Counselling Service on 07592 416638 or e-mail counselling@rbmind.org

Information requested upon referral

During your initial referral you will be asked to provide us with some basic information, including your address and telephone number, and why you are seeking counselling at RB Mind.

All information will be held confidentially, following data-protection guidelines and policies. More information about RB Mind’s data-protection policy here.

Initial assessment

There is an initial assessment session with an experienced therapist before clients are referred for therapy. This is primarily to decide whether the service is the best place for you at this time. If not, you can be referred on to more appropriate agencies or individuals where possible.  There is a charge for the initial assessment as outlined above.

Is there a waiting list?

RB Mind's Psychotherapy and Counselling  aims to see people for an initial assessment within a maximum of three weeks after an initial referral has been made. After your assessment, there may be a delay before regular weekly sessions can start or before groups begin. Please ask about the length of our waiting list when you attend your initial assessment.

Confidentiality

Everything which is said during any of our therapies is treated with the utmost confidentiality. RB Mind's Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has a data protection and confidentiality policy that your therapist will explain to you at your initial consultation.
