Everything said in the sessions will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. At present we offer the following styles of therapy: psychodynamic, integrative, person-centred, body psychotherapy, existential and cognitive behavioural.

Is there a charge?
RB Mind’s Psychotherapy and Counselling Service does make a charge for its psychological services. Fees for ongoing counselling/therapy will be negotiated during the clinical assessment and based on individual circumstance. We operate a sliding scale of fees dependent upon income and they start at £40.00 per session. A third of our sessions are available at a very low cost (between £10.00 and £25.00 per session) but these are restricted to up to a total of 20 sessions’ duration and there is currently a moderate (up to three months) waiting time for these slots.

RB Mind’s Psychotherapy and Counselling Service accepts self-referrals as well as referrals from GPs or other health professionals. In cases where the client is already under the care of a Community Mental Health team (CMHT) a referral from the CMHT will be required before the initial assessment can take place.
Information requested upon referral
During your initial referral you will be asked to provide us with some basic information, including your address and telephone number, and why you are seeking counselling at RB Mind.
All information will be held confidentially, following data-protection guidelines and policies. You can read our data protection policy below.
There is an initial assessment session with an experienced therapist before clients are referred for therapy. This is primarily to decide whether the service is the best place for you at this time. If not, you can be referred on to more appropriate agencies or individuals where possible. There is a charge for the initial assessment as outlined above. If you would like to apply for a low cost assessment please let us know when you contact us.
Is there a waiting list?
RB Mind’s Psychotherapy and Counselling aims to see people for an initial assessment when we know that we can match you with a counsellor within a maximum of three weeks. This means there may be a delay after a referral has been made, before we can offer you an initial assessment. We will let you know the length of our waiting list for assessments.
Everything which is said during any of our therapies is treated with the utmost confidentiality. RB Mind’s Psychotherapy and Counselling Service has a data protection and confidentiality policy that your therapist will explain to you at your initial consultation. You can read both policies below.
RB Mind’s Psychotherapy and Counselling Service operates a cancellation fee scheme. If you cancel your appointment with at least 48 hours notification, you will be charged 50% of the fee you will be paying for your one-to-one therapy or coping with life course. If however you notify the service less than 48 hours before your appointment you will be charged the full fee for that missed appointment.
