Want to fundraise but not sure what to do? Take a look below at what some of our previous wonderful fundraisers have done for some inspiration.
Marathon Walk Challenge 2020
On Saturday, 17 October, RB Mind took part in a Marathon Walk with Citizen’s Advice Richmond, Richmond AID and Ruils to raise funds to support services for local residents in crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was the first time we joined forces with these local charities in a fundraising event.
Led by each charity’s CEO, 30 participants – all walking in socially distanced groups no greater than six – donned walking boots and took on the 26.2 mile challenge. Starting at 8.30am in front of the iconic London Eye, the hike followed the Thames past landmarks including the Houses of Parliament, Battersea Power Station and Kew Gardens. The marathon’s final miles took participants through the Borough of Richmond itself, before finishing early evening at the historic Hampton Court Palace.
You can still make donations for Team RB Mind here. It would be really appreciated. Funds raised by the marathon challenge will enable us to offer more befriending, counselling, group activities and crisis support to both existing clients, and those reaching out for help for the first time.
Santa Run 2018
On Saturday, 8 December 2018 Richmond Borough Mind took part in the Battersea Park Santa fun run to fundraise for better mental health and bring everyone together for a fun day out!
Walking Out of Darkness 2017
Well done to all our walkers who took part in Walking Out of Darkness, a 10 mile walk around London to raise awareness of mental health. The event took place during mental health awareness week and was an opportunity for everyone to walk together in support and unity for individuals and families suffering from mental health difficulties and those who have lost loved ones. The walk took participants from Battersea Park all the way to Tower Bridge and back to Battersea Park again, taking in many of London’s best sights such as The Houses of Parliament, The Tower of London and the London Eye along the way. RB Mind had a great team of walkers with 14 people all walking to raise money for RB Mind.
London Marathon 2017
This year for the London Marathon the chosen charity was ‘Heads Together’, a new campaign spearheaded by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to raise awareness of mental health and end the stigma surrounding it. It is the first time any kind of mental health charity has been chosen as the charity partner for the marathon so we were thrilled to have 2 runners, Hannah and Andrew taking part. Hannah works as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and previously came first in the Richmond Half Marathon when running for RB Mind. Andrew has heard of RB Mind through his work with the LLoyds Banking Groups Charitable Foundations where he has been working to support RB Mind.
RB Mind’s wonderful fundraiser Neil Paget completed the Thames Meander Marathon on Saturday 11th March for RB Mind. This was Neil’s first marathon and we are thrilled he chose to support RB Mind, raising over £2,300!
Sarah completed her first ever marathon for RB Mind when she took part in the Seville Marathon in February 2017. Sarah completed the marathon in the time of 4 hours and 19 minutes and raised over £1,000 for RB Mind!

Senior Street Sextet Jazz Afternoon
Local musicians and RB Mind supporters, Senior Street Sextet, played an afternoon of Jazz Music on Sunday 22nd May to raise money for RB Mind. The event was a great success and the room was full, with guests enjoying wonderful music, tea and cakes, and a raffle. The afternoon raised over £1,500 for RB Mind.
Congratulations to our Trustee Russell Goodenough and our Wellbeing Centre Officer Kristina Dorner who ran the Virgin Money London Marathon on 26 April to raise vital funds for RB Mind. Both finished with fantastic times and raised £5,000 and £200 respectively.
RB Mind’s Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Hannah wins Richmond Half Marathon 2014
Congratulations to Richmond Borough Mind’s very own Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, Hannah Shortland, who won the Richmond Half Marathon on 22 March. Hannah’s time was an incredible 1 hour 26 minutes and she raised £200 for RB Mind in the process. Hannah says what helped to keep her going strong throughout the race was gaining the extra notice and support for Richmond Borough Mind!
