Youth Peer Mentoring

We can offer young people the opportunity to train as peer mentors, or to have a peer mentor. Our youth peer mentoring will provide long-term focused interventions to support young people to build their confidence and make positive changes to their lives. We support schools and youth groups to identify and refer young people experiencing low mood, confidence or self-esteem, and we will support these individuals to overcome these issues and reduce isolation and loneliness.

Young people will be offered up to six/eight one-to-one sessions with a trained peer mentor, who will be matched by their similar interests and/or experiences, and will be supported throughout to reach their personal goals. Individual’s needs will be identified and personalised goal and action plans will be developed from this. Successful outcomes could include gaining careers advice, engaging with sporting clubs, building confidence to attend social events, or overcoming personal challenges such as public speaking.

The Induction Training includes:

  • Introduction to Mind
  • Mental Health Awareness
  • Communication
  • Boundaries
  • Safeguarding
  • Equality and Diversity
