Mental health is more than just a small part of our lives. It’s connected to every little thing we do, every place we go and every person around us. We believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate, professional care, regardless of their financial situation.

Through our low-cost psychotherapy and counselling services, we empower individuals to heal, grow, and thrive. We are seeking your support to protect our low-cost sessions – your donation could double and help someone take their first step towards healing.

Why we need your support

We launched our Psychotherapy and Counselling Service in 1988.

We remain one of the few low-cost options for longer term counselling in the borough, enabling us to address complex cases.

We operate a means-tested fee structure and we need your help to protect our lower cost sessions.

We know the cost-of-living crisis is biting, it’s affecting us too and threatening the sustainability of our work. We are unable to cover our Psychotherapy and Counselling operating costs from our fees.

Our clients value the connection of face-to-face sessions, with 100% of them choosing to visit our therapy rooms in central Twickenham over online sessions.  The cost attached to these rooms is £4,500 and the target for this appeal.

How you can make a difference

Who you’ll be helping

Every individual who accesses our service embarks on a deeply personal journey. For many, it marks the first time they feel truly heard—free from judgment or unsolicited opinions. Our service creates a safe, compassionate space where clients are emotionally supported, empowering them to confront and navigate their experiences with honesty and courage.

The therapeutic process enables clients to see and hear themselves, and with the support of their therapist gain insight and understanding that empowers them to start on a path towards better mental health.

“Thank you so much, I do not know what I would have done without your support. There have been times when I didn’t want to be here anymore. Thankyou”

“I really need someone to help me, I have spiralled in the past and I don’t want to go there again, I appreciate all your help.”

While some of our clients can afford higher fees, the ongoing cost of living crisis has led to a growing number of individuals who can only access counselling through low-cost options.  With NHS waiting times exceeding six months, many clients are left without timely intervention, causing their mental health to deteriorate further during this critical waiting period.

We are seeing more clients from ethnically diverse backgrounds, some of whom have escaped war and trauma. These clients often struggle to both access and afford mainstream counselling services.

Our work with individuals allows them to gain understanding of the root causes of their emotional distress and ultimately to overcome what has been distressing them. The work that our therapists do can be life-changing for those individuals.

For some of our clients, increased confidence, motivation and resilience have resulted in gaining paid employment or training.
